The #8M and the Adorers: A Day to continue celebrating and vindicating women

#8M and the Adorers: A Day to continue celebrating and vindicating women. Every March 8th marks International Women’s Day, an annual event that invites us to reflect on the achievements and challenges faced by women around the world. It is also an opportunity to remember and give thanks for the work of so many women who have dedicated their lives to fighting for equality, justice and dignity for others.

Among these women, the Adorers, Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and of Charity, we highlight the figure of St. Maria Micaela, our foundress. She was a courageous and committed woman, who knew how to respond to an urgent need of her time: to liberate women oppressed by prostitution. Through her example and her charism, she has inspired over the years many other women, and also many men, to follow her path, to serve God and the most vulnerable sisters.

We Adorers continue to vindicate women today

Today, the Adorers and the entire Adorer Family continue the mission of Mother Sacrament, adapting to the new contexts and issues affecting women. Our Social Work, present in 24 countries around the world, focuses on the liberation, personal integration, promotion and social reintegration of women in situations of prostitution, human trafficking and other contexts of violence. To this end, we offer intervention, education, innovation and comprehensive support programmes for women, their children and the communities in which they live.

Faced with the persistence of these terrible realities for women, we Adorers do not remain indifferent and we wish to continue working, day by day, so that the dignity and fundamental human rights of women are respected.

We also encourage you to join us in our mission to liberate and promote women, as members of the Adorer Family (donors, volunteers, members of the Shared Mission), to commit yourselves to this cause for the equality and dignity of all women. Together we can build a better world where all women are respected, valued and empowered.
