Today, Holy Thursday, 2023, Day of Fraternal Love, is the greatest Thursday in the history of humanity. The celebration of this first day of the Paschal Triduum has its center in the institution of the sacrament of the Eucharist, in which we discover Christ’s greatest attitude of love for his Church.

On Holy Thursday, we also celebrate the institution of the sacrament of Holy Orders and fraternal love. The rite of the washing of the feet in the liturgy of this day is a gesture intended to commemorate the moment when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples during the Last Supper. Thus, the Son of God invited the whole of humanity to give himself, to serve, to love by giving himself.

This day is also a particularly relevant date for us, Sisters Adorers, Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and of Charity, since the Eucharistic adoration to which God calls us has its source essentially in the celebration of this Paschal Mystery.

From our Eucharistic experience germinates the mission of accompanying and promoting the liberation of women who suffer exploitation through prostitution or other forms of oppression. “In adoration we learn to love our young women and to work and live for them” (Constitutions, 13).
