Sister Fara Galati Chiuri, a religious of the Adorers, Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and of Charity, Consultor to the General Government for 12 years (2011-2023), died on Friday, January 19, 2024, in Rome, Italy. The funeral will be held on Wednesday 24 January in Rome.

The Superior General of the Congregation, Sr. Pilar Casas, together with the General Government Team and on behalf of the whole Congregation, expresses its deepest condolences in union of prayer and hope in the Resurrection.

Biography of Sister Fara

Sister Fara Galati was born on December 19, 1952 in Bitonto, Bari, Italy. Daughter of Giovanni and Maria, she was the youngest of 3 siblings and studied to be a teacher.

She entered the pre-novitiate of the Adorers on September 24, 1983 in Alicante, Spain. She completed her period of initial formation with perpetual vows on October 7, 1990 in Bitonto.

Fara shared her life with the women at the Casa di Torre Boldone, Bergamo, Italy. Among her services to the Congregation were that of Provincial Superior of Italy (now included in the Europe- Africa Province) and most recently as Consultor to the General Government Team, in charge of the Area of Shared Mission and Laity.

In her last days, following her departure from the General Government at the 31st General Chapter of the Adorers, Sister was assigned to the community in Rome.

Words of condolence

Since the news of her departure to the Father’s House, numerous expressions of affection and condolences have been received from all over the world.

Thus, for example, the Shared Mission Team of the Congregation shares the following words: “Today we pay homage and exalt Fara’s life dedicated to transparent love for sisters, laity and women. Her unwavering commitment to Shared Mission was manifested in her advocacy for the creation of bonds of union and communion between religious and laity, thus building a strong personal and community identity (…).

We will feel the absence of our endless conversations, of the shared laughter and the complicit glances that united us in joy. We will remember with gratitude the supportive and tender hugs that always encouraged us to pursue our dreams, challenges and goals.

Dear Fara, to quote the words of a well-known song, ‘when a friend leaves, he leaves an empty space that cannot be filled even by the arrival of another friend’. However, we are certain that your presence will live on forever in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear sister, knowing that your legacy of love and commitment will continue to inspire us on our journey”.
