At the Sisters Adorers, we understand care as an expression of our charism of Adoration and Liberation. In this way, we make the Gospel present in the lives of the women we accompany. The culture of care invites us to always place the person at the centre, especially women who have experienced prostitution, human trafficking, and other forms of exploitation and violence.

For us, caring means welcoming, listening, accompanying, and opening new paths so that every woman can rebuild her life project.

Care rooted in our charism

Since its beginnings, under the guidance of our foundress, Saint Maria Micaela, the Congregation of the Sisters Adorers has united Adoration of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist with the commitment to accompany women in situations of vulnerability. This union of Adoration and Liberation continues to be the heart of our charism and mission.

Contemplating the Eucharist changes the way we see the world. It helps us discover Christ’s presence in every person and reminds us that every woman deserves to be welcomed with respect and hope. For this reason, care is not simply something we do; it is part of our vocation and of the way we live our charism.

Every gesture of welcome, every process of accompaniment, and every opportunity shared is born from the conviction that a person’s dignity can never be lost.

Caring means recognising the dignity of every person

Our entire mission is founded on the certainty that no situation of violence, exploitation, or exclusion can define a person’s worth.

That is why we strive to see every woman beyond the circumstances she has experienced. Before seeing a story marked by suffering, we see a person with gifts, dreams, and the possibility of building a different future.

This perspective also transforms the way we accompany. We do not seek to replace the person or make decisions for her; instead, we walk alongside her, respecting her space, her choices, and her own journey. Caring means trusting every woman and helping her regain the autonomy to move towards the future with hope.

Care is expressed through closeness

We often think that caring means solving problems. However, our experience tells us that care begins much earlier.

It begins when someone finds a place where they can speak without fear of being judged. When they discover an outstretched hand, a sincere listener, or a presence that remains even in the most difficult moments.

It is there that trust begins. And very often, it is precisely these small gestures that allow a woman to believe in herself again and begin a new chapter of her life.

A shared responsibility

The culture of care is not the exclusive task of those working in social services or of religious communities. It is a commitment that challenges society as a whole.

Each one of us can help create more respectful relationships, reject every form of violence, and promote a society in which every person is treated with the dignity they deserve.

We believe that a caring society is one that listens, accompanies, and leaves no one behind.

A commitment born from the Gospel

Jesus made care a way of life. He drew close to those who were rejected, listened to those who had no voice, and restored hope to those who had been excluded.

Saint Maria Micaela embraced that same way of seeing. She recognised the suffering of the most forgotten women of her time and responded by offering welcome, education, accompaniment, and opportunities to rebuild their lives. More than 170 years later, her example continues to inspire our mission and encourages us to respond creatively to today’s new situations of vulnerability.

At the Sisters Adorers, we want to continue making care a way of living our charism and mission. Because caring means recognising the dignity of every person, walking beside them with respect and hope, and working together to build a future with greater opportunities, justice, and humanity.
