Every year on July 30, the World Day against Trafficking in Persons is observed. On this occasion, the Sisters Adorers share the testimony of a woman who survived human trafficking and has chosen to tell part of her story in her own words.

Throughout the video, she answers questions about her experience and recalls some of the moments that changed her life. To protect her safety, her identity remains hidden and her voice has been altered.

The World Day against Trafficking in Persons was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013 to remind the world that millions of people continue to be victims of this serious violation of human rights. Each year, this day calls us to strengthen prevention, protect survivors, and renew society’s commitment to confronting a reality that remains present across every continent.

Human trafficking continues to be a central concern in the mission of the Sisters Adorers. During 2025, 1,650 women began an accompaniment process after surviving human trafficking; 1,611 were adults and 39 were minors. All of them received support through the programmes carried out by the Adorer Family in 23 countries, providing protection, shelter, comprehensive care, and opportunities to rebuild their lives.

The testimony of a human trafficking survivor

On this day, we do not wish to speak about human trafficking from the outside. Instead, we want to offer the opportunity to listen to a woman who has lived through it.

Her testimony reflects her own personal experience and is not intended to represent every survivor’s story. It reminds us, however, that behind every case there is a person, a journey of recovery, and a life that continues.

We believe her testimony carries a message that deserves to be heard with attention.

Since 1856, we, the Sisters Adorers, have accompanied women who have experienced prostitution, human trafficking, exploitation, and other forms of violence.

Today we renew our commitment to the women we accompany every day and to defending the dignity of every person against human trafficking. On this day, we want the voice of a survivor to take centre stage.
