Migrants, Missionaries of Hope: Sisters Adorers and Women at the Jubilee 2025 with Pope Leo XIV

The Europe-Africa Province of the Sisters Adorers will take part in the Jubilee of Migrants, which will be held in Rome on October 4 and 5, 2025.

On the occasion of the Jubilee 2025, the Secretariat for the Jubilee of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE) launched a social project focused on raising awareness and combating the reality of human trafficking and sexual and labor exploitation. This initiative, entrusted to the Commission for Social Pastoral Care and Human Promotion, has involved the Sisters Adorers as one of the entities with a project aimed at fighting human trafficking. This effort reflects the spirit of the Jubilee, which invites spiritual renewal and commitment to the most vulnerable.

As part of this collaboration, Sister Consuelo Rojo and women who are beneficiaries of our Social Work project in Spain have traveled to Rome from October 2 to 6. There they will attend the meeting with Pope Leo XIV at the Jubilee of Migrants, together with other participants of the CEE’s social project with whom they will share experiences.

Program of the Jubilee of Migrants

On Saturday, October 4 at 10:00 a.m., they will attend the Jubilee audience with the Holy Father in St. Peter’s Square, and from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. they will make a pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.

On Sunday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m., the Holy Mass will take place, presided over by the Holy Father in St. Peter’s Square, celebrated jointly with the Jubilee of the Missionary World.

Finally, that same day from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., the Festival of Peoples – Migrants and Missionaries of Hope among the Nations is scheduled to be held in the Gardens of Castel Sant’Angelo.

Message from Pope Leo XIV

“Migrants, Missionaries of Hope” is the theme of the World Day of Migrants and Refugees, celebrated this year on October 5 to coincide with the Jubilee of Migrants.

Pope Leo XIV, in his message for this special day, expresses recognition of the presence of migrants in our society:

“In a world darkened by wars and injustices, even where all seems lost, migrants and refugees stand as messengers of hope. Their courage and tenacity are a heroic witness of a faith that sees beyond what our eyes can see and that gives them the strength to challenge death along the various contemporary migratory routes.”

And he adds:

“Indeed, with their spiritual enthusiasm and dynamism, they can help revitalize rigid and weary ecclesial communities, in which the spiritual desert threatens to advance ominously. Their presence must be recognized and appreciated as a true divine blessing, an opportunity to open ourselves to the grace of God, which gives new energy and hope to His Church.”

New Materials from the Social Project of the Jubilee 2025 for Ordinary Time

“The Price and the Value” is the title summarizing the contents of the new materials published about the social project of the Jubilee, from the Human Trafficking department of the CEE.

As indicated by the CEE, starting from the testimonies in the video and supported by the texts in the dossier, a personal and communal prayer and reflection is proposed. The testimony of Sister Inma Soler, from the community of the Sisters Auxiliaries of the Good Shepherd, is offered; along with a text by Bishop Vicente Martín, member of the Episcopal Subcommission for Charitable and Social Action, on the call to commitment “to be able to eradicate human trafficking in all its forms and to promote peace in the world.”

These materials are aimed at deepening the Social Project of the Spanish Episcopal Conference dedicated to Human Trafficking, within the framework of the Jubilee 2025. With this new dossier and video, they hope to promote dialogue on these topics in groups and Christian communities in the context of the liturgical Ordinary Time. It is a proposal that unites us as a Church that walks with hope.
