We, the Sisters Adorers, Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament and of Charity, have begun the preparation for the 9th General Conference 2026, which will take place from 19 to 31 October 2026 at the Mother House in Madrid (Spain).
This moment is significant for our Congregation, as it invites us to pause, listen, and discern together the path we are called to follow.
What is the General Conference of the Sisters Adorers?
The General Conference of the Sisters Adorers is a space for encounter, reflection, and discernment in which we address the main challenges and horizons of the Congregation ahead of the 32nd General Chapter, which will be held in 2029.
Participants include:
- The sisters of the General Government Team
- The Provincial Superiors (Europe-Africa, America, Kolkata, Mumbai, and the Delegation of Japan)
- Other sisters whose presence has been deemed appropriate by the General Government, due to their experience, mission, or other criteria
It is a time to share life, review our journey, and continue responding together to what is being asked of us today as a Congregation.
Preparation for the General Conference of the Sisters Adorers 2026
Sr. Pilar Casas, Superior General, invites us in the convocation letter to begin a path of reflection in the community, with the intention of “returning again and again to the root that sustains us.”
We find ourselves in a complex moment within consecrated life: “To shape communities that celebrate life, express life, discern, and proclaim a charism that is alive.”
To do so, we rely on a process with a methodology that helps us to live this journey in depth:
- Silence
We place ourselves in a space of silent prayer before the Lord Jesus, listening to the Holy Spirit.
During this time, each one recalls what has been lived, what has taken place in her personal and community life since the 31st General Chapter.
As support for reflection, in addition to the Chapter Document, we may also use Annex 1.
- Listening
This takes place in two parts:
- Speaking and listening. Each sister speaks from her own experience and prayer, while listening attentively to the contributions of others. Space is given to silence and prayer.
- Making space for others. Each one shares, based on what others have said, what has resonated most deeply or what has raised resistance within her, allowing herself to be guided by the Holy Spirit. Space is given to silence and prayer.
- Building together
We engage in dialogue together based on what has previously emerged, in order to discern and gather the fruits of the conversation in the Spirit: identifying insights and convergences; recognising disagreements, obstacles, and new questions; and allowing prophetic voices to emerge.
We ensure that everyone feels represented in the outcome of the work.
Reflection sheets for the General Conference
This journey is structured through three reflection sheets that guide our process for the 9th General Conference of the Sisters Adorers 2026:
- Sheet 1: “Responding in freedom to God’s love in our lives”
- Sheet 2: “A look at the community in which we live and dream”
- Sheet 3: “Mission builds community”
Returning to what is essential in our vocation and mission
We are consecrated women who have encountered God and wish to continue responding to His call with our lives in today’s world.
We feel called to live in the style of Jesus and to make His way of life the meaning of our own.
His life shows us three fundamental pillars:
- Relationship with the Father
- Living together with those He calls (living with Jesus creates community)
- Service to our sisters and brothers
Thus, we begin this journey towards the 9th General Conference of the Sisters Adorers 2026, open to being led by the Holy Spirit and to recognising the presence of the Risen One who walks with us in life, in community, and in the mission of Adoration and Liberation.
We ask the entire Adorer Family to accompany us with their prayer along this journey, so that we may listen to the Spirit and respond faithfully to what is asked of us today.
