Meeting of Sisters Adorers’ Superiors in America 2026: caring is embracing life and mission

Meeting of Sisters Adorers’ Superiors in America 2026: caring is embracing life and mission

From 10 to 14 April 2026, a meeting of Superiors from the Sisters Adorers communities of the Province of America took place in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic). It was an event marked by fraternity, discernment, and a shared desire to continue strengthening the mission.

A space for encounter, communion, and mission

Convened by the Provincial Superior, Sr. Teresa Valenzuela, they gathered on the occasion of the closing of the Pastoral Visit carried out in the different communities of the Province. It was a privileged opportunity to share life, discern together, and strengthen communion at the service of the Adorer mission.

The meeting took place at the Spirituality House of the Sanchina Sisters, whose warm and generous hospitality made possible an atmosphere of serenity, fraternity, and gratitude. Every detail, from arrivals to departures, helped everyone feel truly welcomed.

Caring is embracing: a call to listening

These were days of authentic encounter, lived with simplicity, where sharing life and listening from the heart became the centre of the experience.

Fr. Javier Vidal, SJ, accompanied the meeting around the theme “Caring is embracing,” reminding participants that caring means, above all, learning to listen.

A listening that is born from “removing one’s sandals” before God and before the other person; that invites falling in love with Him and trusting deeply in Him. From this attitude, it becomes possible to generate life, integrate one’s own wounds, and open paths of encounter that strengthen the mission.

The Directory: a guide to embody the charism today

This shared time also encouraged a rereading of the Congregational Directory in the light of life, service, and leadership.

The Directory gathers the guidelines that make the Constitutions concrete in the daily life of the Congregation. It is therefore a fundamental tool for embodying the Adorers charism in today’s reality.

Through this reflection, the sisters allowed themselves to be challenged by today’s concrete realities, becoming more aware of their responsibility and of how they are called to respond as a Congregation.

Communities that generate life and hope

The meeting concluded with a shared sense of gratitude and renewal.

The Superiors returned to their communities strengthened, with the desire to continue walking together and building living communities that care, accompany, and generate life wherever they are present.

In a world that needs spaces of care, listening, and hope, this meeting reaffirms the importance of shared life as the foundation of the mission.
