On August 31st, as part of the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025 celebrations, 19 Sisters Adorers from 9 communities of the Kolkata Province made a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Velankanni in India.
This Marian shrine is one of the country’s main pilgrimage destinations, attracting thousands of people each year who come with deep devotion to Our Lady of Good Health, especially praying for the sick.
The goal of this pilgrimage for the sisters was to deepen their experience of faith and to receive the grace of the plenary indulgence that the Church grants during this jubilee year. The sisters began this journey with great joy, aware that the Jubilee is an invitation to renew life through God’s mercy and to strengthen their vocation as consecrated women in the service of Adoration and Liberation.
Throughout the day, the pilgrims participated in intense moments of communal prayer, the sacrament of reconciliation, and prolonged Eucharistic Adoration, experiencing a profound time of grace. They also joined the many faithful who come daily to the shrine.
Upon returning to their communities, the sisters expressed feeling spiritually renewed and strengthened to continue living out the mission entrusted to them by the Church: to make Adoration and Liberation a lived reality, especially by accompanying women in situations of prostitution, human trafficking, and other forms of violence. This pilgrimage became a reminder that the charism received from Saint María Micaela remains vibrant and fruitful wherever Sisters Adorers are present.
Through this jubilee experience, the sisters of the Kolkata Province united with the entire Adorer Family, present in 23 countries around the world and called to live this jubilee year through prayer, fraternity, and commitment to mission.
