On December 28, 2025, on the feast of the Holy Family, the Church in Karwar (Karnataka, India) celebrated the closing of the Jubilee Year 2025, under the motto “Walking together in hope.”
The celebration took place during a solemn Eucharist presided over by Bishop Duming Dias, Bishop of Karwar, and was attended by the Sisters Adorers of the Karwar community, together with numerous faithful from the different deaneries of the diocese.
A celebration lived in communion
The closing of the Jubilee was a moment of thanksgiving and deep ecclesial communion. The Sisters Adorers of Karwar took an active part in the celebration, carefully decorating the Jubilee Cross, a visible sign of the journey made during this year of grace.
The presence of a large number of faithful highlighted the shared desire to close the Jubilee as a people walking together, sustained by faith and hope.
Keys for a life of hope
During his homily, Bishop Duming Dias invited those present to welcome the fruits of the Jubilee into daily life, emphasizing some essential aspects of the Christian journey:
- Giving God a central place in one’s life.
- Living family responsibilities with faithfulness and responsibility.
- Caring for relationships through simple gestures such as asking for forgiveness, giving thanks, and knowing how to forgive.
- Remaining rooted in the Word of God as a source of meaning and strength.
These guidelines resonated as a call to extend the jubilee spirit beyond the celebration, embodying it in everyday life.
The Church closes a Jubilee that continues in life
In the final days of 2025 and the early days of 2026, the universal Church progressively celebrated the closing of the Jubilee Year in dioceses throughout the world. In this context, numerous communities of Sisters Adorers, present in different countries, actively took part in the jubilee celebrations organized in their respective dioceses, thus joining the common journey of the People of God and giving thanks for the spiritual fruits of this time of grace lived in communion.
The definitive closing of the Jubilee took place in Rome on January 6, 2026, the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord, when Pope Leo XIV presided over the Eucharist in Saint Peter’s Basilica and carried out the rite of closing the Holy Door, officially bringing to an end the Jubilee Year inaugurated by Pope Francis. Through this gesture, the Church was sent once again into ordinary life, called to safeguard and embody in daily living the renewed hope awakened by the Jubilee in people’s hearts.
